How Efficient Is Your Camp Setup Routine?

It has been a long day of driving and exploring. You have seen lots of great sights and even met some new friends along the way. Now you're finally parked for the night. It's time to set up camp. But wait. How efficient is your setup process? Efficiency can make an enormous difference when you also need to be fast.

We've all been there. We have all had those occasions when we just wanted to get set up, relax, and make something to eat but it looked like the rain would start in 10 to 15 minutes. Getting set up as quickly as possible is goal number one.

Work Out a Plan

We have seen some efficient overlanders and campers. These are the people who pull up to a spot and have camp set up and ready to go in 10 minutes. It seems like they have the entire setup process down to a science. Actually, they do.

If you're new to overlanding or camping, that kind of efficiency doesn't happen overnight. It takes practice. It also takes something else: a plan and the right gear. A lot of what overlanders and campers do isn't planned. In fact, much of the appeal of both activities is the spontaneity that comes from the great outdoors. But when it comes to setting up camp, a plan is a good thing.

When you come up with a solid plan and you practice it, it becomes second nature. You don't have to think about it. That's one of the keys to efficiency. So come up with a plan, practice it, and tweak it where necessary. After a while, you will be one of those select few whose camps are set up while everyone else is still unpacking.

Use the Right Equipment

We cannot stress enough the important of using the right equipment whenever you go overlanding or camping. But the right equipment is even more critical when you're looking for efficiency and speed.

For instance, why take valuable time knot tying for your awnings and tent canopies when you can use the Roperoller®? Not only is it a sophisticated rope cam fitting 3mm accessory cord, but we also think it's one of the best in the industry.

The Roperoller® is a rope tensioning device that is as easy to use as pulling on a rope. You attach the accessory cord to your tent, tarp, or awning, then feed it through the cam and attach it to a stake or a tree. If you have a platform on top of your truck, the rope might attach to your luggage rack. Either way, just pull the rope to tension it. That's it.

Rope cams are perfect for tents, tarps, awnings, laundry lines, or anything requiring a tensioned rope. They are incredibly fast to use as well. You don't have to tie individual knots on either end of your rope or learn a taut line hitch. With a rope cam, just hook, tug, and go.

You Don't Have to Waste Time

A good plan and the right equipment are the two main ingredients to an efficient camp setup routine. They can be invaluable when you need to get set up quickly. But even when there is no rush, you don't have to waste time. You can still set up your camp quickly so you have more time to relax and enjoy your surroundings.

Is your setup process efficient? If it isn't, it's probably not as fast as it could be either. It's time for you to come up with a better plan. Then practice that plan along with using the right equipment.
