4 Ways to Use Cam Straps with Hook Ends

One of the things we most appreciate about cam straps is their versatility. A good webbing strap and cam buckle are ideal for securing loads. With added versatility from different strap ends, you've got a cam strap for every different need. Let's dive into the various uses of the hook end cam strap.

Cam straps with hook ends are exactly what their name implies. A cam buckle is attached to one side of the strap, while a steel hook is attached to the other. That steel hook is connected with a loop sewn right into the strap. That means the hook is a permanent part of the cam strap. It is not something you take off and put back on as needed.

Our Hook End straps come with two pieces, as illustrated in the graphic below. The first piece is the length purchased with a hook on one end and then the straight end on the other, which connects to the buckle on the second strap. The second strap is approximately 1 foot long with a hook on one end and the Rollercam® on the other. Hooks can attach to truck beds, roof racks, and any installed eyelet ring.

Here are common ways to use cam straps with hook ends:

1. Securing Outdoor Toys

You are an outdoor enthusiast with all sorts of toys. You have your motorcycles, ATVs, and personal watercraft. All of them can be transported on trailers and need to be secured. Cam straps with hook ends are an ideal securement option. Two hook end straps held together by a longer webbing strap can span the entire width of your gear. Meanwhile, the hooks easily attach to either side of the trailer. A few cam straps placed in strategic locations guarantee the load isn't going anywhere.

2. Securing Coolers for Travel

You are heading out to spend the day in the mountains. You have two plastic coolers you carry on a steel shelf mounted on the rear of your SUV. Keeping those coolers in place is as simple as securing them with hook end cam straps. The hooks are the perfect fasteners to hold the straps tightly to the steel shelf.

You could use bungee cords for this task, but it is not wise. Cam straps with hook ends allow you to tie down your coolers more tightly and with a lot less effort. They will not give as much while you are driving on any offroads, so the coolers are less likely to shift, bump around, or even fall off.

3. Carrying Cargo in Your Pickup

Pickup trucks are indispensable for moving household cargo. Most models offer built-in cargo securement points in the bed and box walls. Guess what type of strap end works perfectly with these securement points? The hook end. Cam straps with hook ends can secure everything from furniture and appliances to lawn care equipment.

4. Securing Your Work Trailer

Speaking of lawn care equipment, you will save deck space by getting those hand tools off the floor of the trailer and mounted on the walls. Cam straps with hook ends can safely secure your leaf blowers, edgers, trimmers, rakes, etc. The hooks attach easily to the sides of your trailer with little effort required on your part.

As an added bonus, the easy release nature of the cam buckle makes tightening and loosening the straps nearly effortless. To release a piece of equipment, just push the button on the cam buckle, pull the strap out, and off you go. Reversing the process is just as easy.

Work trailers of all sorts are made more efficient with cam straps. From landscapers to concrete contractors and window washers, anyone securing equipment on a trailer would do well to try the hook end cam strap.

You Have Options

The hook end is one of the functional end types you can choose for your cam straps. But you do have other options like best-selling our Loop End and popular Carabiner End. Each one has its specialty uses, just like the hook end. Choosing the best end type for you is all a matter of personal choice.
